A big thankyou from Michele and Nigel to all the Levow an Bys members and Mullion Voices who turned up to sing at Eden today, and to any that couldn't make it we hope to see you again another time. As you can imagine, it was not an easy day for Michele but you did her proud. Well done! We shall have a recording for you as soon as possible.
Don't forget the meeting on Wednesday 29th April to discuss the new arrangements regarding Pip taking over as Musical Director and finding a new Treasurer.

25/03/09 Important News:
For any of you that were not at this evenings rehearsal I should tell you that Michele announced with great sadness that she is having to give up the choir. As you may know she has had ME for many years and it has been a struggle to keep going. Well now she has been told that she must stop working and try to regain her strength.
Michele very much hopes that we will carry on the choir and has suggested that we hold auditions for a replacement, so if you have any ideas please get in touch with me or any of the other committee members. We have plenty of funds in the bank to advertise for a new musical director. All Michele's musical resources will be available to any replacement.
The choir will continue rehearsing as normal for the next few weeks, and we will do the Eden concert as planned. As soon as the programme is finalised I will post it on the website and e-mail it to everyone. Check the dates on the Dates and Gigs 2009 page.

From 17th September 2008, the rehearsal times have changed to: 7.15pm to 8.45pm.

Levow an Bys are a community choir based in Penzance, Cornwall and lead by the widely experienced musical director, Michele Brown. The name means Voices of the World in Cornish.
We meet in the Community Room at Humphry Davy School, Coombe Road Penzance on Wednesday nights through the school term, between 7.15 and 8.45pm.
Everyone and anyone (over 16ish)is welcome to come and join in. There's no audition, you don't need to have sung before, you don't need to read music, all the songs are taught 'by ear'. If you can read music then the dots are available for many of the songs.
The repetoire is varied as implied by the choir's name and comes from Africa, Europe, Eastern Europe and America it two, three, and sometimes four-part harmony.
